Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat arrived on scene at 2.26 pm. They were re-directed to a new location where a kayak had been seen. When the lifeboat arrived at the new location, they found a kayak: the occupant confirmed that he was the missing child. Also aboard the kayak was a second boy who had gone to help the nine year old find his parents. Both boys were returned safely to shore. Tony Edwards, RNLI Deputy Launching Authority (DLA) at Rye Harbour said: ‘This search had a positive outcome as the casualty was located quickly. On average four young people are rescued every day.
