DATE 11/03/2008 10.40 PM REFERENCE: SMT/RH/013 Hurricane: Force 12 gust recorded at Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat Station.A 66 knot gust (approximately 76 miles per hour) was recorded at Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat Station during the storm that hit the UK on Monday 10 March 2008, the gust was recorded at 08.14 am.It is times like this when RNLI volunteer crews and the lifeboats are getting ready to put to sea, to help those in distress, luckily for us at Rye Harbour we were not needed, though there were windsurfers out off Camber Sands. At 12.15 pm, photos and video footage were taken of the sea conditions at the harbour entrance and one of the windsurfers at Camber Sands.
