29/10/2007 1PM SMT/071028-006 EXERCISE: MEDICAL EVACUATION.Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat, B-727, launched on exercise today (Sunday, 28/10/2007) at 10am; the Lifeboat crew were put through their paces whilst practicing: a medical evacuation of casualties from a boat, involved in a collision, on the river Rother at Rye Harbour .The casualties (one (partially sighted, with chronic hearing difficulties) was suffering from confusion, and the other suffering a potential spinal injury) were rescued from a boat that had been involved in a collision, on the river Rother at Rye Harbour . The casualty with the potential spinal injury was immobilised - using equipment onboard the lifeboat. Both casualties were recovered into the lifeboat and returned to station at 10.45am . Jai Gudgion, Lifeboat Training Coordinator at Rye Harbour said: 'RNLI lifeboats launch to numerous incidents involving collisions each year. The potential for this kind of accident happening here at Rye Harbour is real. We need to train for all kinds of situations - you never know what you are going to find when you arrive at the casualty. This type of incident involves everyone at the station, even for an exercise'
